The Gift
By Randy Maxwell, Washington Conference vice president for administration

For his 6th birthday, I bought my grandson, Jayden, a football helmet and jersey.
Our daughter, Candi, Facetimed us so we could see him open his present. I put on my helmet and jersey so he and his “papa” could be just alike.
Jesus gave us the gift of His Spirit so we could be like our Papa God in Heaven.
He gives us the helmet of salvation and the jersey of righteousness and the fruit of the Spirit—so we can be just like Him!
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Besides Jesus, the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift Heaven can bestow. Without Him, we are “wretched, pitiful, poor, miserable, blind, and naked” (Rev. 3:17). We can’t continue with business as usual because there’s nothing usual about our times.
Receive the Gift! Pray for Pentecost!
About an hour after Jayden got his present, Candi sent us a text saying,
He is playing football all over the house and making his dad talk like a sports commentator reporting everything he does. Lol!
That’s what Jesus wants to say to the Father about us.
“Look! They are moving in the Spirit all over the place—in their homes, in their churches, in their workplaces, and in their communities. In everything they do, they are working and loving and praying and healing and living for your glory just like me!”
