Four Youth Events Canceled

FROM DAVID SALAZAR, Washington Conference Youth Director

While young people are low-risk for coronavirus, youth events typically draw a larger audience of support.

As a safety and precautionary measure, Washington Conference Youth Ministries joins in the cancellation of four youth ministry events.

This is a time to be proactive and not to panic or be disappointed. We all want to be in good health and have healthy communities.

  • Local Events: The Washington Conference Youth Rally planned for Saturday, March 7, in Lake Stevens, Wash., is now canceled, as well as the conference’s plans for Global Youth Day on Saturday, March 21, in Wilkeson, Wash. These events attract young people from around western Washington.

  • Regional Event: The union-level Pathfinder Bible Experience for Saturday, March 14, in Chehalis, Wash., is now canceled. This event typically brings young people from around the Pacific Northwest. An online Bible trivia time is being created: See more information

  • National Event: The division-level Pathfinder Bible Experience scheduled for April 17-18, in Salem, Ore., is also canceled because of ongoing uncertainty with the coronavirus and the short-term logistics of travel for participating teams who are still qualifying at the union-level. Our Pathfinders and volunteer staff from across North America worked hard and put a lot of effort into learning this year’s selected Bible books.

Conference, union and division youth leaders all acknowledge this effort, and are seeking to provide live online events for union-level and division-level Pathfinder Bible Experience where young people can tune in to answer a selection of questions from the biblical books of Ezra, Nehemiah, Hosea, Amos, Jonah, and Micah.

More details about online events will be made available shortly and can be found at www.clubministries.org.

Please continue wash your hands, cover your cough, take care of your immunity, and safely check in on others who may need a helping hand. Please stay home if you are ill or immunocompromised.

We look forward to our next time of gathering youth for Bible study, friendship, skill development, and spiritual growth.
